Glentromie is pretty confusing brand produced by The Speyside Distillery. It was introduced in 1994 as blended malt, but most of 21st Century bottlings carry single malt distinction. The Speyside started producing whisky in 1990, it is a small distillery equipped with a single pair of stills with capacity of 600 000 liters of spirit per annum. It sits opposite the site of the original Speyside Distillery, which operated from 1895 to 1905, and was demolished in 1911. It is not clear where the whisky bottled as Glentromie single malt is coming from, but an educated guess points to The Speyside Distillery. The name of the whisky refers to the River Tromie, the distillery water source.
