Glenleven brand doesn’t really bring a lot of memories, yet we were able to find out, that it is blended malt whisky bottled by John Haig & Co. some time in the 1980s. Unfortunately we are not able to provide a formula, but we believe that two main components are Glenkinchie and Glenlossie. Since another key malts in Haig’s brand are Mannochmore and Linkwood it is likely that they were also included into recipe of Glenleven. John Haig & Co. became part of DCL in 1919 and currently is owned by Diageo.
Nose: quite rich and woody (in a pleasant way), dusty second-hand book store, pine resin, apples, oranges, raisins, touch of ginger, delicate sherry notes and fading hints of smoke.
Palate: fruity with lovely smoky undertones, baked apples, plums, oranges, raisins, dash of ginger and pepper and subtle oakiness.
Finish: fairly long, fruity, oaky with distinctive sherry notes.
