Glen Garioch (est. 1797) is a small distillery owned by Morrison Bowmore Ltd, since 1994 subsidiary of the Japanese conglomerate Suntory. From 1908 to 1937 Glen Garioch was owned by William Sanderson & Son and supplied malt to the company’s VAT 69 blend. Until 1994 the distillery operated own maltings and produced malt with concentration of phenols of 10 ppm. The 15 years old expression presented here was bottled in the early 2000s (before 2009) and contains whisky aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.

Nose: fresh, floral and fruity, slightly malty, orange marmalade, prunes, honey, caramel, oak and fading hints of smoke.

Palate: rich, malty, vanilla, toffee, caramel, apricots, raisins, cardamom, hints of ginger and peat and fair amount of oak.

Finish: long, oaky and spicy with hints of vanilla and lingering smoke.
