The Corriemhor brand was introduced in the late 1990s. It was a pure (blended) malt whisky, brainchild of Richard Paterson, Whyte & Mackay master blender. His mission was to create a dram perfectly matching fine cigar. The formula remains the master’s secret, we can only guess that one of the main components was Dalmore (Mr. Paterson takes full credit for creating Dalmore Cigar Malt). The Corriemhor Cigar Reserve enjoyed modest popularity, in 2012 the brand was acquired by Fox Fitzgerald Ltd and re-launched as single malt. Today’s Corriemhor comprises whiskies aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. However the whisky carries no age statement the company claims that it was aged for 8 years.
