Glenfiddich was the first malt distillery to market their whisky outside of Scotland. While marketing Glenfiddich single malt the owners also promoted Scotland, its history and heritage. The Clans of the Scottish Highlands series released in the 1980s included seven bottlings of standard Glenfiddich presented in individually illustrated tins to celebrate seven of the Highland most powerful clans. The progenitor of Clan Murray was Freskin, a ruthless Flemish knight, who was employed by Norman kings to conquest England. The collector’s tin is adorned with a portrait sir Mungo Murray (1668-1700), son of the 2nd Earl of Atholl.
Nose: fresh, grassy and fruity, malty, vanilla, honey, orchard fruits and oak.
Palate: malty and fruity, apples, pears, white chocolate, mixed nuts, touch of spice and delicate grassy notes.
Finish: medium long, warming, fresh fruit, malt, oak and fading hints of smoke.
