In 2005 Jim Beam Global, then subsidiary of Fortune Brands, became the new owner of Laphroaig Distillery.
Within the next few years Beam greatly extended the distillery range adding several NAS expressions as well as few really old ones. Laphroaig 25 years old debuted in 2007. The original release was bottled at 40% abv but the following year brought first cask strength edition. Laphroaig 25 years old, 2015 bottling, contains whisky aged in 2nd and 3rd fill ex-Oloroso sherry casks (50%) and ex-bourbon casks (remaining 50%). It was bottled at 46.8% abv.
