The precise date of the Yellowstone bourbon launch is unknown; it is certain though that it takes its name from Yellowstone National Park, which opened in 1872 and according to the records the whiskey was on the market in 1886. During Prohibition Yellowstone bourbon was one of the handful of brands bottled for medicinal purposes. Currently it is owned by Luxco Inc. (formerly The David Sherman Company) and after spending decades on the bottom shelves of liquor outlets it has been revamped and reintroduced in premium category. Yellowstone 7 years old is a marriage of three Kentucky straight bourbons: 7 and 12 years old bourbons with rye in the mashbill and 7 years old wheated bourbon. Released in the fall of 2015 with an outrun of 6000 bottles.
