Laphroaig Càirdeas (the word means ‘friendship’ in Gaelic) was introduced in 2008, a limited edition of 3600 bottles released for the Friends of Laphroaig for the annual Fèis Ìle (the Islay Festival of Whisky and Music). The bottling was a tremendous success and each year John Campbell, Laphroaig master distiller, handcrafts another small batch edition for the event. The 2014 release comprised whisky aged in first fill ex-bourbon casks and finished for one year in ex-Amontillado sherry hogsheads. Bottled at 51.4% abv with an outrun of 28254 bottles. (Since 2012 Càirdeas abv matches the last two numbers of the year in which it’s produced, for 2014 it was 51.4%).

Palate: sweet apricots, figs and oranges shrouded in peat smoke, vanilla, honey, toffee, milk chocolate, salted nuts, hints of white pepper and ginger.
