Glenmorangie people love to call The Taghta expression a ‘crowd-sourced’ whisky. In fact ‘taghta’ translates from the Gaelic to ‘the chosen one’ and the whisky was chosen by the company Cask Masters program. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie master distiller and whisky creator, prepared samples of three different finishes of Glenmorangie: Grand Cru Burgundy, Grand Cru Bordeaux and Manzanilla sherry. The members of the public picked up the winner, selected a name, design and photography. And ‘the taghta’ was ex-Manzanilla sherry finish. The whisky was launched in the late 2014 with an outrun of 12000 bottles.
