The Medley family association with Kentucky bourbon goes back to the birth of the state of Kentucky (1792) and Charles W. Medley, president of his namesake distillery in Ownesboro is a seventh generation master distiller. In fact, a member of the Medley family has been operating a distillery continuously since 1812, excluding 13 years of the National Prohibition. The Owensboro distillery has been silent since 1992 but Charles Medley keeps the family brand alive. Medley’s “Private Stock” was launched in 1873 by George Medley and recently Charles and his son Sam decided to replicate it. The 10 years old whiskey comes from undisclosed Kentucky distillery (rumored to be Heaven Hill), its mashbill contains 77% corn, 10% rye and 13% malted barley. Only 1000 cases were released in 2015.
