Old Crow is a historic bourbon brand named after the inventor of the sour mash process, Dr. James Christopher Crow. Crow was a Scottish chemist and physician who arrived to Kentucky in the early 1820s and worked as a distiller at Old Oscar Pepper Distillery. Dr. Crow not only perfected the sour mash method, he also aged his bourbon in wood well before such practice became a norm in the industry. Old Crow Bourbon was a drink of choice of president Ulysses S. Grant, it was praised by Jack London and Mark Twain among others. Currently Old Crow is distilled and bottled by Jim Beam in Clermont, Kentucky. It shares mashbill with Jim Beam White Label (75% corn, 15% rye and 10% malted barley) but it is aged for three years.
