In 1966 Mark Edwin Andrews purchased 15th Century Knappogue Castle in County Clare in Ireland. In around this time he started buying casks of fine pot still whiskeys from top Irish distilleries. He aged them further then bottled and distributed among locals and the family members. His most famous bottling was 1951 Knappogue Castle, 36 years old whiskey from the original Tullamore distillery. Mark Edwin passed away in 1992 and few years later his son, Mark Andrews III brought his father’s legacy to the US and international markets. Knappogue Castle 14 years old is a marriage of single malts aged in ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks bottled at 46% abv and without chill-filtration.
