A’bunadh was introduced in 1997 and for the first couple of years was available exclusively in Travel Retail outlets.
The name means “the origins” in Gaelic and the whisky is matured exclusively in sherry wood with an emphasis on second fill ex-Oloroso butts, and bottled uncut and unchill-filtered. It carries no age statement; we were told that it comprises whiskies aged from 8 to 15 years. Batch # 55 was launched in the spring of 2016. Aberlour is currently ranked number 6 on the single malt best selling list with 3.8 million bottles sold annually worldwide.
