Talisker Distillery was funded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. It is located in the Isle of Skye, the largest and most northerly major island in the Inner Hebrides. Currently the distillery is owned by Diageo and equipped with five stills produces 2.7 million liters of spirit per annum. Talisker single malt was known only locally until 1988, when United Distillers (Diageo predecessor) included 10 years old expression into the original Classic Malts range. Port Ruighe bottling named after the largest town on Skye was introduced in 2013. It comprises whisky aged in combination of casks and finished in ruby port casks. Two tasting glasses are included in the set.
