Glenfarclas Distillery was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay and upon his death in 1865 acquired by John Grant and his son George and remains in the hands of the Grant family ever since. The Grants made their name for very strict wood policy and sherry wood matured single malt. Glenfarclas put a lot of emphasis on vintage expressions offering several bottlings each year. The 1989 Vintage released in 2014 was a limited release of 2040 bottles.
