Glenfarclas Distillery has been owned and run by six generations of the Grant family since 1865. The family has been very strict about wood policy; they are famous for extensive use of sherry wood for whisky aging and for rejecting, what they call ‘the weird type casks’. Glenfarclas 1990 is a classic expression from the distillery, aged in ex-Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 46% abv in October 2015. Only 1200 bottles were produced. Global sales of Glenfarclas have been steadily rising, they reached 800 000 bottles in 2015.
