Camus is a cognac brand that has belonged to the same family for five generations now. Camus cognac production began in 1863, when Jean Baptiste Camus organised a group of cognac producers to promote their product as La Grande Marque. In early 20th century Camus was a wawrded the status of the official cognac at the Russian tsar court. Today Camus is a global brand employing some 500 people.
Ile de Re is one of the islands belonging to the Cognac appellation. Naturally, the grapes cultivated on the island contain more iodine than those grown on the mainland. Ile de Re Cognac matures in extremely damp cellars, which enhances roundness, and the delicately toasted oak barrels used in that process provide subtle hints of oakiness.
Nose: Delicate iodine notes, accompanied by subtle fruits and oak.
Palate: Full, smooth. Notes of dried fruits, mainly plums, dates and raisins, Quite a lot of spice, a hint of oak.
Finish: Fresh, fruity, with growing spicy notes.
