Chicken Cock is an old bourbon brand, which got a new lease of life in the 21st Century. Originally established in 1856 in Paris, Kentucky, quickly became one of the leading bourbon brands. During the Prohibition it was produced in Canada and smuggled across the border in cans. Chicken Cock rose to fame as ‘the whiskey in tin cans’ and was served in such establishments as the legendary Cotton Club in Harlem. The brand has been recently resurrected by Grain & Barrel Spirits of Charleston, South Carolina. Chicken Cock Bootlegger’s Blend is a blend of sourced spirits including bourbon and rye aged (according to the producer statement) from four months to two years.
Producer’s tasting note:
Gold color. Inviting aromas and flavors of honeyed dried fruits, peach cobbler, roasted nuts and white chocolate mint with a silky, bright, fruity medium body and a tingling, interesting, medium-long leather, sandalwood, baking spices and cream finish. A rock solid blended whisky that will be very versatile.
