Bottle No. 4679 / 6000
Diageo’s predecessor, United Distillers, launched Rare Malts selection in 1995.
It followed The Classic Malts and Flora & Fauna series and originally included whiskies from closed distilleries, always bottled uncut and unchill-filtered. As stocks diminished the company included rare vintages from the distilleries still in operation. Auchroisk Distillery was founded in 1974 and whisky included in Rare Malts bottling was distilled in the first year of operation. Moreover, Auchroisk appeared in the range only once, in 2003. Two years later Rare Malts series was phased and its value has been rising ever since.

Palate: clean and sweet, slightly floral, vanilla custard, toffee, baked apples, dash of cinnamon and allspice, walnuts, hints of aniseed and eucalyptus and oak.
Finish: long and nutty with pretty strong oaky notes and hints of vanilla.
