Green Spot is the only pot still whiskey brand, which has been continuously produced since the early 1900s. The brand was developed by Mitchell & Son, the Dublin wine merchants. They had a lot of empty wine casks at their disposal and used them for aging whiskey purchased from distilleries. The warehouse staff marked casks with different color spots to indicate their maturation time and those days green spot was reserved for 7 to 10 years old. Today the brand is produced by Pernod Ricard. Green Spot Finished in Bordeaux Wine Casks comprises single pot still whiskey distilled in Midleton Distillery, aged in traditional oak casks and finished for up to 2 years in French oak Bordeaux casks sourced from Château Léoville Barton vineyard, founded in the late 1700s by Irishman Thomas Barton.
