However founded in 2002 Teerenpeli proudly holds the title of the oldest whisky distillery in Finland. The distillery is part of a group of restaurants spread across Finland that also owns a brewery and in fact is located in the restaurant. The original distillery was equipped with a single pair of small stills and produced roughly 30 000 liters of spirit per annum but in October 2015 additional wash still and two spirit stills were installed more than quadrupling capacity. Teerenpeli 8 years old is the first commercially available Finnish single malt, it combines whiskies aged in ex-bourbon casks (about 60%) and 2nd fill ex-sherry casks (40%).
