Redbreast is a whiskey made at Midleton Distillery in Cork County. It is a triple distilled pot still whiskey – a whiskey distilled in traditional copper pot stills, but with an addition of unmalted barley in the mash. One of the most awarded Irish whiskeys.
The bottle comes from a cask strength edition bottled in 2013, matured for at least 12 years, mainly in ex-oloroso sherry casks and bottled at cask strength – with no dilution prior to bottling.
Nose: Juicy tropical fruits, some citrus, dried apricots and raisins. Some spice and toasted oak.
Palate: Rich, well-balanced and mild. Juicy fruit, oily, spicy. Vanilla sweetness and some oak.
Finish: Long. Fruit sweetness fades gradually, giving way to spice, oak and finally barley.
