Glen Garioch (est. 1797) is one of the oldest operating Scottish Distilleries. It is owned by Morrison Bowmore Ltd, a subsidiary of Beam Suntory.
Glen Garioch was mothballed in October 1995 but resumed operations in August 1997, on its 200th Anniversary. The Renaissance Collection contains whisky distilled after 1997 with the objective to follow the progress of Glen Garioch’s style while maturation process progresses. The initial release, called 1st Chapter, was a 15 years old Glen Garioch bottled un-chill filtered and at natural strength. It was launched in the summer of 2014 with an outrun of 12000 bottles. The next chapters/expressions – 16, 17 and 18 years old – will follow annually.
