Jurassic is a little obscured whisky brand from the French wine producer Henri Maire from Jura département (Jura is a region in eastern France, between Burgundy and Switzerland with long cold winters and hot summers.) The whisky is released in small batches, usually 2-3 thousand bottles each batch. Here we have Jurassic Franche Comté, a blend of single malts and grain whisky aged for three years in traditional oak barrels and finished in casks used for Marc de Franche Comté made of Arbois oak. (The Jura Marc is an alcoholic beverage distilled from grape marc, usually of Chardonnay or Savagnin variety, aged 2 to 5 years on average.)
Producer’s tasting note:
Intense dark golden color tending to golden brown. Subtle nose, aromas of Marc (similar to brandy) with hints of fruit. Complex in mouth with evolving tastes. Highly appreciated as an aperitif or after dinner as digestive, slightly chilled or at room temperature.
