St. George’s Distillery was founded by father and son, James and Andrew Nelstrop in 2006 and it was the first malt distillery to be opened in England in over 120 years. It is located in Roudham, Norfolk and equipped with a single pair of stills can produce a little over 100 000 liters of spirit per annum. Currently the distillery is running at roughly 50% of its capacity, what translates to 50 000 liters. The distillery releases are called ‘Chapters’ with the first four chapters being reserved for Single Malt Spirit ‘Not Yet Whisky!’ Chapter 17 contains whisky triple distilled in July 2008 and aged in ASB (American Standard Barrel) no. 533-535. Bottled at 46% abv in September 2015 with an outrun of 900 bottles.
Nose: smooth, vanilla custard, toffee, sponge cake, honey, milk chocolate, cantaloupe, orange peel, apricots and hints of licorice.
Palate: sweet and citrusy, vanilla, toffee, oranges, apricots, chocolate milk, buttered toast, licorice and delicate herbal and oaky notes.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, toffee, oranges and bunch of fresh herbs.
