Monde Shuzo is a company founded back in 1952, situated in Isawa, Yamanashi Prefecture. It produces mainly wine, vodka and Chinese spirits, making whisky only once a year. The first whisky was distilled there in 1967.
Fujikai 10yo single malt whisky takes its name from the distillery’s location at the foot of Mount Fuji. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, the edition is limited to 8,808 bottles.
Nose: Vegetal with herbal overtones (mainly thyme), some vanilla, musk, iodine. And echo of sake.
Palate: Peaty and vegetal. Notes of dried herbs, green apples and walnuts.
Finish: Dry, with spicy notes.
