Jameson, a traditional Irish whiskey made at Midleton Distillery in Cork County, is one of the best known Irish whiskey brands in the world. The Caskmates expression is a result of an interesting experiment, whereby some of the casks were leased out to Franciscan Wells Brewery, used to mature some of the stout beer there, and later returned to the distillery to be filled with already mature whiskey for the so-called cask finish.
Nose: An interesting combination of traditional notes of Jameson Whiskey, which were not obscured, but only complemented by stout notes – there is more spiciness, oakiness and chocolate notes.
Palate: Rich and full. Fruit, vanilla, chocolate. Also, some hoppy notes and a slight bitterness.
Finish: Medium length, with a mixture of spice and chocolate.
