Mortlach was the first distillery built in Dufftown (1823), proud home of seven distilling facilities.
The locals love to say ‘Rome was built on seven hills, Dufftown stands on seven stills’. Currently Mortlach is owned by Diageo and produces 3.8 million liters of spirit per annum. Most of the output goes into Johnnie Walker Black Label. In 2014 the distillery released new range including four expressions: Rare Old, Special Strength, 18 and 25 years old. Mortlach 18 years old is a vatting of whiskies aged in first fill sherry casks and refill bourbon casks.
