An extremely rare malt whisky from a little-known Wakatsuru distillery, situated in the city of Toyama, the capital of Toyama Prefecture on the island of Honshu. The Wakatsuru distillery obtained its licence in 1953, but the whisky was produced there on and off in limited quantities.
Nose: Sweet and malty, with barley notes, vanilla, dough, spice, oak, honey, smoke, subtle cinnamon and liquorice.
Palate: Sweet and spicy, with some maple syrup, honey, hot spices, oak and liquorice.
Finish: Long and smoky, with some oakiness, liquorice and red fruits.
