Not too often we are coming across whisky named after a movie. It is the case of 15 years old Edradour single malt released in respect of Scottish film ‘Fairy Flag’.
The film story centers on Clan MacLeod and the flag of Dunvegan Castle, a mystical heirloom with magical features. The whisky spent 8 years in ex-bourbon casks and additional 7 years in fresh Oloroso sherry casks and was bottled in 2014 at 46% abv.
Nose: rich, lots of dried fruit, raisins, prunes, caramel, cocoa, traces of leather and tobacco and delicate herbal notes.
Palate: soft and creamy, quite strong sherry statement, dried apricots, dates and prunes with cinnamon and oak in the background.
Finish: long, combination of fruity sweetness and dry spiciness.
