Soon after Edradour Distillery was acquired by Signatory Vintage Ltd. the new owners started releasing dozens of expressions finished in different types of wood, some of them single cask.
The one presented here, distilled in December 1993, spent over 14 years in refill hogsheads than was transferred for 42 months to ex-Sauternes cask. Bottled in April 2012 at natural strength (52.7% abv) with an outrun of 303 bottles.
Nose: rich and fruity, with delicate earthy notes, ripe apricots, plums, orange zest, pine needles and crushed walnuts.
Palate: rich, lots of juicy apricots and plums, tangerines, nougat, subtle oakiness and traces of leather.
Finish: medium long, slightly nutty, ripe stone fruit and dash of herbs.
