Black Jack is a little obscure brand from Angus MacDonald & Co. This pure malt whisky (blended malt by today’s standards) was introduced in the late 1970s.
Not much is known about Black Jack formula, we can only take for granted that the malts were sourced from Highlands (those days Speyside was sub-region of Highlands) and spent at least 6 years in wood. We absolutely love the beautiful old-fashioned label.
Nose: smooth, malted barley, ripe orchard fruits, hint of oak and distant whiffs of peat smoke.
Palate: light and soft, breakfast cereals, vanilla, apricots, apples, traces of hay and peat smoke.
Finish: medium long, fresh, with notes of citrus, vanilla, hints of hay and peat.
