Talisker Distillery is located on the Isle of Skye, the largest and most northerly major island in the Inner Hebrides.
In recent years Talisker single malt has been experiencing tremendous increase in sales, in part due to aggressive Diageo’s promotional campaign. Talisker Skye was launched in the early 2015 and is currently one of five NAS expressions from the distillery. The whisky was aged in a combination of refill and toasted American oak casks with a slightly higher proportion on the latter. Skye is a sweet and smoky dram, perfect introduction to the extensive Talisker range.
Nose: sweet and somewhat smoky, baked apples, pears, oranges, vanilla, toffee, pepper, hints of nutmeg, notes of seaweed and sea breeze.
Palate: soft and initially sweet, baked apples, peaches, vanilla and honey, soon reveals its spicy side, peppery and gingery, with peat smoke lingering in the background.
Finish: medium long, spicy, with notes of pepper, brine and peat smoke.
