Old Bushmills Distillery was founded in 1784, although the labels and the bottles bear a much earlier date – 1609. It was then that a local landowner, Sir Thomas Phillips, was granted a royal licence to distil whiskey. The distillery’s history, marked with numerous closures and reopening right from the very start, was recommenced for good when it had been rebuilt after a fire in 1885. It used to be a part of Diageo, but it changed owners in 2014. Now it is a part of the Jose Cuervo stable.
Bushmills 10yo Single Irish Malt Whiskey is the first malt whiskey with an age statement that was released by the Old Bushmills Distillery. The bottle in question was filled in 2000, therefore it has an old design label.
